Mahamantra — The Great Chant: A Story the world needs to hear

Mahamantra — The Great Chant, directed by Girish Malik, is a cinematic cry from the soul — a timely, urgent meditation that arrives as the need of the hour. Born from relentless curiosity about collective consciousness and the human condition, this docu-drama feature weaves ancient Vedic wisdom with contemporary science to offer a blueprint for healing in turbulent times of war, global unrest and personal and environmental imbalance. Visually dynamic and dramatic, and driven by breathtaking imagery, Mahamantra takes audiences from the cosmic dawn to intimate moments of human reflection, tracing a lineage that spans the Big Bang, the Mahabharata, and the moral weight and dilemmas of Oppenheimer in World War II.

Our crew brought a rare blend of artistry and scholarship to every frame. Malik’s visionary direction guided a collaboration of global thinkers, spiritual masters, and scientists; Bickram Ghosh’s Grammy-caliber rhythms and Shubha Mudgal’s evocative voice infused the film with a living heartbeat; Padma Shri Dr. Arvind Lal and eminent scholar Dr. Rajeshwar Mukherjee from Nalanda University lent intellectual depth and gravitas. Cinematographers captured rituals, dances, and natural phenomena with visceral clarity — images that arrest the eye and stir the spirit.

The film’s festival journey has been extraordinary:Honored with a Dadasaheb Phalke Film Festival award, a Special Mention at IFFI Goa, and inclusion on the Academy Awards Documentary Feature Reminder List. These honors affirm the film’s global resonance and its role as a rare, meaningful contribution to world documentary cinema.

The filmmaking journey was one of devotion: years of research, travel, and quiet conviction to honor both tradition and inquiry. We pursued soul-deep truth, crafting a film that does not shout but stays with you long after the screen fades. Mahamantra stands as a bridge between ancient knowledge and modern chaos — cinema as peace and a summons to awaken.
