UNCHARTED ROADS

Uncharted Roads is a feature film written and directed by London-based filmmaker Naveen Sung, whose nearly three-decade career spans cinema, theatre, television, and international co-productions. Rooted in a deeply human story, the film explores failure, redemption, and the fragile yet enduring bond between a father and son.

The story follows Mussi, a disgraced former data engineer whose life has unraveled after accusations of data theft. Stripped of his career, home, and dignity, he embarks on an unplanned journey across the UK with his 10-year-old son, Vicky. What begins as a desperate attempt to mask his circumstances evolves into a raw emotional journey. Through fleeting encounters, moral missteps, and moments of unexpected kindness, the film captures a man confronting his past while a child quietly shapes his understanding of love, truth, and resilience.

At the heart of the film is Samruddh Sunag as the curious yet deeply perceptive Vicky, delivering a true powerhouse performance that anchors the emotional core of the narrative. His portrayal brings remarkable depth, sensitivity, and strength to the role, elevating the father-son journey with authenticity and emotional clarity. The rest of the cast and crew have also delivered outstanding work, contributing significantly to the film’s immersive and grounded storytelling.

Visually set against the diverse landscapes of Britain, Uncharted Roads uses the physical journey as a mirror for internal transformation. The recurring motif of Vicky’s painted stones reflects memory, impermanence, and human connection, small tokens that outlast fleeting encounters.

Writer, Director Naveen Sung brings a deeply personal and observational approach to storytelling, drawing from years of experience across cultures and mediums. His work with international studios and grassroots storytelling initiatives informs the film’s restrained, realistic tone. The production embraces simplicity and authenticity, allowing performances and emotional truth to lead the narrative.

At its core, Uncharted Roads is not about reaching a destination, but about rediscovering direction. It is a story of imperfect people, fractured relationships, and the quiet possibility of change, where redemption is not declared, but gently realized.
