EGO

EGO is a film that came from a very simple but relatable observation on how often we see a gap between parents, especially homemakers, and their children when it comes to things like language or technology. Over time, that gap quietly turns into hesitation and eventually into the belief that it’s “too late” to learn. This idea stayed with us and slowly shaped the core of this story.

At the center of EGO is Sarakka, a woman who has lived with strong pride and an unshakable sense of self but also carries a past she never fully resolved. When she finally decides to confront it, she sets out on a journey with her gang. What starts off as something driven by ego and revenge slowly turns into a much more personal and emotional experience. Through moments of chaos, humor, and reflection, the journey begins to challenge her understanding of strength, relationships, and growth.

The film is written and directed by Yohith Reddy Palavali, whose approach to storytelling is rooted in placing strong, layered characters in everyday situations. Instead of directly stating messages, EGO uses humor and emotion to let the audience discover them on their own. The film features performances by Jhansi and Charan Peri, with cinematography by Nageshwar Vadde and music by Aditya BN.

More than anything, EGO is a film made by a group of young people who simply wanted to tell a story they believed in. It came together through collaboration, learning, and a shared drive to create something honest. Being selected for the 16th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival 2026 is a meaningful step for all of us and a reminder that small beginnings can lead to bigger journeys.

And if this film does anything at all, we hope it quietly reminds someone, no matter where they are in life, that it is never too late to learn, to change, and to begin again.
