Vajra directed by Anarghya Kodam

Making Vajra has been, without exaggeration, the most ambitious journey we’ve undertaken as a team. On paper, it almost sounds improbable, a group of university students attempting a superhero film. Yet, somehow, through persistence and belief, we brought it to life.
Working within a very limited budget meant that nothing came easy. Every frame demanded ingenuity. We relied not on resources, but on resourcefulness, constantly pushing the limits of what we had, finding creative solutions, and learning to think differently. What could have felt overwhelming instead became quietly motivating. Each challenge pushed us to grow, both as filmmakers and collaborators.
Our commitment to the story led us across long distances in search of the right locations. We chose not to compromise, even when it would have been easier to do so. The film mattered too much. It was never just about making something visually impressive; it was about telling a story we deeply believed in.
At its heart, Vajra is not simply a superhero film. It is an exploration of a man’s internal struggle. When a city calls for its long lost protector, a man burdened by anxiety and self doubt must confront himself before he can rise again. It is a story about responsibility, identity, and redemption.
The decision to centre the narrative around mental health came from a place of urgency. While conversations around anxiety and emotional vulnerability have grown, stigma still lingers, particularly for men. Through Arjun’s journey, we wanted to present a more human hero, one who falters, questions himself, and struggles to carry the weight of expectation.
Our vision has always been collective. Each member of the crew brought their own perspective, their own creative voice. What emerged is a film shaped by many minds but unified by a single intention, to tell an honest, emotionally resonant story. In the end, Vajra is not about saving the world, but about finding the strength to face oneself.
